Paddling in Rock Harbor
A year after having hiked all over Isle Royale I returned to this rock in the middle of Lake Superior, this time with my kayak. I rode the ferry from Copper Harbor, Michigan to Rock Harbor and paddled clockwise around the island. The weather mostly held, and I had fun circumnavigating the island while seeing the interesting shoreline, wildlife, lighthouses, and residing in the shelters every night. Despite kayaking in a circle I had a headwind every day, but still made it back to Rock Harbor for my scheduled ferry departure back to the mainland. Overall I enjoyed my paddling excursion around Isle Royale much more than my prior hiking trip.
