The Chevy is Dead, Long Live the Chevy!Well, my trusty old rust bucket that my parents bought me to drive through high school finally died eight months after I graduated from college. The leaking anti-freeze finally caught up with me and the car blew a head gasket. The estimate to fix it was half the purchase price of the car six years ago, so needless to say, that car has breathed its last breath. I was really lucky the car died where it did though. I was on my way back to my parents house for Thanksgiving (which means the car also had a full tank of gas) and I only got a couple miles outside of town before problems arose. That was a lot better than being stuck in the middle of Illinois with no where to go. Plus this way I got to ride with a stranger. That car served me well (even though I did not take very good care of it), and I salute you—plus the $25 the junk yard is giving me for it.
So with my heart still yearning the car I lost, that drove me to get my car's great11 grandson of the original—a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. Even though it doesn't have magic locks or windows, it does have other nice features like a defroster, headliner, and a non-broken passenger side mirror. No rust either. It is way too nice of a car for me. Although I will probably try to drive this one until it is in about the same shape as my old one.
So after spending four long years on my overpriced education, I actually got a job at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA doing software engineering type work. I just started so I am not real sure how the job will be, but it sounds like it should be pretty good. Also really have not had a chance to explore Cedar Rapids or the surrounding areas yet. For those people who know me, I will send out an email with my address, phone, etc. when I get all that hooked up. If you want to be sure you are included, drop me a line.
